Mysterious Kalmykia will become a key stage of the “Great Silk Road 2026” the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Kalmykia announced.

From May 24 to 29, 2026, the Russian stage of the international route “Journey along the Great Silk Road 2026” will pass through Dagestan, Kalmykia, and the Astrakhan region.

The caravan will arrive in mysterious Kalmykia on May 26 and will stay for three days.

Guests from around the world will enjoy a ceremonial welcome at the Dagestan border in the village of Artezian, tours of the protected areas of the Chernozemelsky District, a tour of Golden Horde-era artifacts in the Kalmyk steppes—the northern branch of the Silk Road—and a visit to the “Country of Bumba” ethnocultural complex near the Mekletinsky Pink Lake.
