Steppe Code

The principal law of Kalmykia is the Steppe Code which was adopted on April 5, 1994 to replace the old Constitution of the Republic.

This law was adopted thanks to Kirsan Ilyumzhinov.

This document confirms the renunciation by Kalmykia of its right to quit the Russian Federation, and states the priority of the Federal Law over the local laws, and integrates the President of the Republic into the administration vertical of the Russian Federation.
