Kalmykia continues its active preparations for the large-scale spiritual and educational event. One of the key venues will be the republic’s Central Khurul, where cosmetic renovations are currently underway, reported in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Kalmykia.

By mid-September, the Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni is set to complete the renovation of the building’s facade, improve the surrounding area, restore the columns and gates, refurbish existing statues and introduce new architectural elements. This was reported by Sergey Khasikov, Deputy Head of the Elista Administration.

According to him, the renovation is being funded through both republican and municipal budgets. In addition, sponsors are also contributing to the restoration of this iconic site in Kalmykia. “I’d like to recognize the charitable foundation Wildlife and Peace, which, by the way, recently celebrated its anniversary. Congratulations to our friends, and a big thank you! It’s good to know there are still kind people in the world”, – Sergey Khasikov said.

It is worth noting that the foundation donated 25 million rubles toward the renovation of the republic’s main Buddhist temple.
