The Tulip Festival promotes Kalmykia as a region with a rich culture and unique natural beauty. This event has already become a hallmark of the republic, a source in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Kalmykia told the National Tourism Portal today.

The Tulip Festival makes its grand entrance in April across the mysterious land of Kalmykia. In 2026, the festival marathon opened in the Tselinny District on April 11th. Last weekend, the festival truly took place – with a flourish, a joyful, and folksy atmosphere – in eight districts of the republic: Yashkulsky, Chernozemelsky, Ketchenerovsky, Maloderbetovsky, Sarpinsky, Priyutnensky, Yashaltinsky, and Gorodovikovsky. Near the Caspian Sea is located a small town called Lagan. Its history the city wrote in 1870.

Lagan the city of working people, the main profession fisheries and livestock breeding.

During the Soviet period in the city has developed industry. Were constructed meat-packing plant, fish and machine factories, production of which was well known outside of the city.
