Photo exhibition “The hidden Republic – Pictures from Kalmykia” was opened in Denmark. Kasper Boye told about Kalmykia.

Kalmykia is Europe’s only Buddhist nation. It is located on the North Caucasus – with almost equidistant to the Black Sea in the west, the Caspian Sea in the east, Volgograd (formerly Stalingrad) in the north and the conflict-ravaged Chechnya in the south.

Kalmykia is a republic in the Russian Federation. They have their own parliament, but the political leader appointed from Moscow.

Ethnic kalmyks up more than half of the population (the rest are Russians, kasakher, etc..). They are descendants of the Mongol tribe Oirat that early in the 1600s crossed the Urals to ravage and rule on the Caucasian plains. Tribe made a pact with Peter the Great, who offered them freedom – and guns – on the use of their Mongol steel and horses in the defense of southern borders of Russian Empire. FIDE chief Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and Ashmore Group set up a joint fund

Kirsan Ilyumzhinov The President of the World Chess Federation and ex-president of Russia’s Republic of Kalmykia, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov is reportedly going to set up a $10 billion investment fund with UK major Ashmore Group.

Ex-president of Russia’s Republic of Kalmykia Kirsan Ilymzhinov and Ashmore CEO Mark Coombs signed an agreement in London, reports Kommersant Daily. The joint fund would develop projects in Russia, CIS and East Asian countries such as Malaysia, Singapore and Japan, focusing on energy, telecommunications, metals and food industries.

Kalmykia and MJ Kaveh Group agreed to work together

House of the Government Last days in the Republic of Kalmykia, a delegation from Iran consisting of: Mr. Mohammad Sadegh Kaveh, CEO of MJ Kaveh Group, and Mr. Karimi Hadi, director of production company.

July 3, AVIA.RU – The Government of Kalmykia and the Austrian company Diamond Aircraft intend to establish a joint venture assembly of light-engine aircrafts in the republic, hoping to come up with this product to the private market and in the small special aviation field, informs the newspaper “Kommersant” in Volgograd.

The Austrian company Diamond Aircraft is considering building a factory in the territory of Kalmykia’s to assembly light-engine aircraft, manufacturing of aircraft propellers and wings for wind power mills. Investment climate in Kalmykia From Hannover to Elista – with a new plant. The largest international exhibition of industrial innovations, the Hannover Industrial Trade Fair was closed last week in Germany.

This year was the exhibition’s 60th anniversary was celebrated by over 6,400 business participants from 60 countries, including Russia. One of the brightest moments of the Russian participation was signing of an agreement between the Government of the Kalmyk Republic and Rosenergomash Concern for construction of a large electrical engineering equipment plant, Elista Energomash, in Kalmykia. Investments in Kalmykia Rosenergomash entered Kalmykia investing EUR 10 million in a new plant. Russian small power-plant engineering, which has up to now been in stagnation, is recovering. At the end of the last week Rosenergomash Concern and Kalmykia signed an agreement for construction of an electrical engineering plant on the Kalmyk territory for EUR 10 million. The experts believe that the number of these enterprises will be growing with the increase in demand for small power-plant engineering products by 25 % per year and the industry consolidation prospects.

Falcon capital to build wind power plants in Kalmykia

Wind turbines The Russian republic of Kalmykia and the Czech company Falcon Capital plan to build three wind farms in the republic at a total cost of over 150 million Euro, Kalmykia Economics Minister Vladimir Sengleev told journalists in Elista.
