The representative of Kalmyk abroad Elena Remileva visited Republic of Kalmykia.

Elena Remileva frequently comes to Kalmykia: visiting relatives and engaged in charity. The reason for this visit was the release of her book “Oirat Mongols. Review the history of European Kalmyks”.

The book was printed in Munich this spring by the Bertugan publishing house at the expense of the author. The presentation will take place on Tuesday at 15.00 at the National Library of the Republic of Kalmykia named after A. Amur-Sanan.

Having worked for more than 30 years in Munich at Radio Liberty, Elena Remileva has collected a large archive of documentary materials relating to the history of the White Cossacks and Kalmyks – the emigrants of the first wave. But in this book, the author, without pretending to be academic, sets out his view on the history of the Oirats, starting from their arrival on the Volga and up to the beginning of the 20s of the last century.

As for the life of the Kalmyks in exile, Elena Remileva said that she was going to write about this period of Oirat history, no less eventful.
